Dan and dash for darts ’24
Dan is a friend of darts and is fundraising for us in the 10K this year, and here's why
Why did you sign up for the Doncaster City 10K? Have you ran before or are you embarking on a new challenge?
I signed up for the 10k directly to fundraise for darts. I started running February this year and have done the Yorkshire wildlife park 10K and Robin Hood half marathon last month.
Have you started training? What is motivating you to get out on those autumn runs?
I have started increasing my training amount leading up to the Donny 10K in hopes to beat my 53min 10K ‘Personal Best’ and I’m hoping to get a sub 50min. Wish me luck!
Have you started training? What is motivating you to get out on those autumn runs?
Being part of the local run club helps motivate me – having other people to run with makes it feel much easier.
At darts, we use creativity to express ourselves and help get stronger. Does running have a positive impact on your mood like this? Is that important to you?
I know about many of the great programmes darts runs through my girlfriend Amber. She works in Communications for Doncaster Council’s Public Health department, and attends the Doncaster Creatives Book Club which is held at The Point. It’s clear, from all I’ve heard and seen, that darts is a great organisation to fundraise for to help the local community.
For those in Doncaster unaware of darts’ work, what would you tell them?
Running has a massive positive impact on my mood. When I finish a run I always feel much better in myself then when I started no matter how tired, run down, or grumpy I may be!
Any words of motivation to those already signed up to the 10K?
My words of motivation are “Run now, pints later’!
