Blog: National Work Life Week
National Work Life Week gives employers the chance to showcase how they provide work-life balance for their staff.
Here at darts (Doncaster Community Arts), we help our staff enjoy a healthy work-life balance by supporting them to work from home.
For Sophy, Head of Fundraising and Development at darts, working from home makes an invaluable difference:
“I am so lucky to be able to work from home two days a week.
“As a fundraiser, I find it really challenging to concentrate on writing a funding application in a busy, buzzing office. I tend to get so much more done at home as I can get in the zone and write undisturbed!
“I love the balance of the quiet at home and then coming into the office to collaborate with colleagues, meet the participants and volunteers and go into sessions so that I can see first hand what the impact of our work is.
“All of this helps build the picture of who we are, what we do and the impact we have on Doncaster residents. I can then make the most of the time at home to write a compelling case for funding.
“Working from home also means I can see more of my family, which is brilliant. I can drop the kids off at school and see them when they come home.
“I live in Sheffield and drive to work in Doncaster, so I enjoy not having to make the long journey each day, – and it’s better for the environment too!”
