Hands on learning opportunities for Doncaster teachers

As a lead partner in the Doncaster Music Education Hub, we are pleased to be delivering a whole host of CPD sessions across the school year, to support teachers in Doncaster. We will also have some exciting digital resources and opportunities – keep your eyes peeled!

Singing Champions – 2nd March 2022 – 4-5.30pm

Delivered by musicians Janet and Satnam, this session will explore teaching songs from cultures other than that of the teacher in the classroom. We will focus on some Indian and Zimbabwean songs in this fun afterschool session.

Model Music Curriculum: Musicianship for KS2 (Part 2) – 16th March 2022 – 4-5.30pm

This training will cover the main musicianship elements involved in the KS2 Model Music Curriculum. Held over two workshops, this training will include the elements of beat, rhythm, pitch and notation. Please note, the singing element of the KS2 Model Music Curriculum will be covered in the Singing Champions workshops and the composition elements will have a separate, focussed CPD session later in the year. This session is part 2 of 2.

Sing Out – 20th April – 4-5.30pm

This session will cover all of the songs that will be performed at Sing Out 2022, as well as the dance moves for each song. If your school is attending Sing Out this year, we recommend that at least one staff member attends this CPD session. Lyrics, song recordings and videos will all be available after the CPD session for you to refer back to.

These CPD sessions will be held in person at The Point. We will ensure that the sessions follow all current government guidance and will distribute more information on this nearer the time of the events.
