summer’s good for dancing!
Janet and Charlie recreate a special moment from our Dance On summer social
In July 2019, we brought together participants from our Singing for Memory and Dance On groups at The Point for a fabulous summer social. There was bunting, tea and cake, plenty of singing and dancing and even an inflatable flamingo! Everyone enjoyed meeting new people and moving to the music provided by DJ Rob on the decks and musician Janet on her guitar.
This year, although we are unable to meet in person, we wanted to share one of our favourite moments from last year’s event with everyone at home. Janet and dance artist Charlie have joined forces to record a brand new film featuring ‘Summer’s Good for Dancing’ – an original song written by Singing for Memory participants with Janet and poet Ian McMillan and performed at the Dance On social in 2019. Learn the words with Janet and accompany Charlie in some simple moves that can be done seated or standing in the new film here.
Summer’s Good for Dancing is part of our darts at Home activity. Professional musicians, artists, dancers, poets and film-makers have been finding new ways to share fun and engaging opportunities for those who might be feeling isolated, for parents who have children at home, for people who want to stay active and for everyone who wants to learn new skills. darts at Home is for everyone, no matter your age or ability.
