Music for Youth
Young people from Doncaster play at Birmingham Symphony Hall in national event that celebrates the skills of young musicians
Music for Youth is a five-day feast of live music and in July, 40 young musicians from Doncaster travelled to Birmingham to take part in this event which celebrates the UKs most inspiring young musicians playing folk, western classical, jazz, choral, pop, funk and more…
Children from primary, secondary and special schools across the South Yorkshire region (Doncaster, Barnsley, Rotherham and Sheffield) worked alongside composer Andy Smith to create a piece entitled ‘Bach’s Tocatta – South Yorkshire’s Fugue’ and they performed this in the Birmingham Symphony Hall to a packed house.
During the Music for Youth National Festival, Birmingham comes alive with 400 live performances taking place over five days at three world-class stages and city-centre locations.
