New opportunities to get creative and connected

Two men are working at tables. One has an open laptop in front of him. He is smiling. The other man his back to the camera and is holding a piece of paper.

We Create is designed for all adults – particularly those feeling isolated, or who want to improve their wellbeing.

Following on from the success of the We Create creative rambles with Mexborough and District Heritage Society, weekly We Create sessions in Mexborough will continue in 2022. Due to popular demand, there will be short creative courses on a number of topics on offer, all featuring sessions with Barnsley poet and broadcaster, Ian McMillan.

Women in Work and Industry!

Every Tuesday, 1.30pm – 3.00pm, from February 15th 2022

Venue: Mexborough Resource Centre, on the corner of Dolcliffe Rd and Hampden Road. The main entrance can be accessed on Hampden Road.

We’re looking at what women of Mexborough did in the early 20th century, from the belles of the brickyard, to transport workers and local councillors. We’ll continue to explore our local history and create our own characters and stories using facts and objects from Heritage Doncaster, creative writing and poetry, music, and more.

All sessions are free and you don’t need any experience to take part. There is no need to book — please just turn up.

Further courses will run from March 29th. Details will be released soon.

Weekly Zoom Sessions

We Create also runs on Zoom every Wednesday morning from 11am – 12 noon. Try your hand at music production, radio scriptwriting and more. These sessions are free for adults to attend, staff are friendly and welcoming and no previous experience is needed.
