Singing For Memory pays tribute to Doris Day
We were saddened to hear of the passing of Doris Day earlier this month. She had such a wonderful career, and the attendees of Singing For Memory, darts’ choir for people living with dementia and their carers, decided to commemorate her life by dedicating their most recent session in celebration of her.
They talked about her films and sang some of her best songs, but the highlight of the session was singing a poem written by Ian McMillan as a tribute to Doris to the tune of her song, “Secret Love.” Take a listen below
Let her go gentle into that good Day
The voice that broke and mended hearts
Let her go gentle into that good Day
That’s ending now. A new Day starts
As she goes gentle into that good Day
With notes that fly like Cupid’s darts
Let her go gentle into that good Day.
